Koningshoeven Brewery is one of the few trappist breweries in the world to have the permission to use the "Authentic trap Product" logo. A beer can only be called a trappist beer if it is brewed between the four walls of the Trappist Monastery, under the supervision of the monastery monks, and a portion of the earnings goes to charity.
La Trappe is made using only natural ingredients: hops, barley, yeast and water from its own sources. The name La Trappe comes from the French monastery of Notre-Dame de la Grande Trappe in Normandy, Soligny-la-Trappe, also known as La Trappe.
